The Mrs. had a turbo beetle a few years back.. It was a fairly quick car but it had reliability issues. Kinda soured me on VWs honestly....

The drivetrain was solid but it had weird electical issues and was very cheaply put together. The sunroof broke, the window fell of the track, the hood release snapped off in my hand one day, etc.

    I hated working on it....

That is what you get for buying a car that is built in Mexico. My wife had a Jetta that was the same way. traded it in 2 days after we got the title.

yeah the VR has a nice sound to it but the R32 VR makes the rest sound a little week. I have been toying with the idea of putting a R32 powertrain is my car. Love the black on black.

Impossible that only happens with American cars, doesn't it?

(that is sarcasm by the way)

Its too bad really. The older VWs like yours were great cars. The ones made within the last ten years, unfortunately, are not -IMO that is. We wouldnt buy another one.
