You need the R&D carbon fiber reinforcement and also the updated Yamaha pump shoe brackets. I just installed mine and it's sweet.

Stock they come with brass inserts that stick up for the pump shoe bolts to thread into. You will be able to see if they are still there or if they were chiseled off and replaced with long metal brackets with inserts for the bolts to thread into. Someone may be able to post a pic of the correct brackets?

wow slow down a bit, here is another alternative

replacing the inserts is a real pain to do so I wouldn't do that on a 2002 ski unless I had to

for the incerts I would simply get some good 2 part epoxy and complete the glue job yamaha started - at you autobody supply store get some "Plyogrip" or equivalent

yes it is a good idea to reinforce the tunnel area on any year ski (but especially 2003 and newer)

one alternative for this is just to lay several layers of fiberglass matting on to the tunnel area - when you do this you have to use some epoxy resin (that will stick to the SMC hull)
