Tested Jims Plate Today
I did some runs out at the river today. The plate does hookup better for turning. I need to do a back to back with that plate against my speedplate. I ran 73.9 today in 76° and glass water. I was thinking I should have been closer to 75. I had 2 bars of fuel. RPM's were down a little. It was a speed increase, but the last time I ran the speedplate I pulled 73.3 in a fairly short rough water run.
I'm trying to get a trip organized with Hydro and have a plate testing party. I'm also going to look the ski over and see if there are any other issues.
Jim's plate does sit lower in the water at the front of the plate. There is less of a step from the pump shoe to the front of the plate. I wonder if that is the change R&D made to their plates. I bought my R&D/speedplate in early 2001 and had it modified later.
There is a million things that could be a factor. I will definately back to back test these plates.
I have only increased my speed from 72.7 in 110° to 73.9 in 76°, changes to the ski include 05 pump with Dynafly and Jim's plate.
My speed plate does have graphite/moly speed coat (lubri-bond) on it???

I'll come up with some dates that will work for me and let you know. We have def got to move fast, the temps are about to go through the roof. It's already 75 at 5am.
I know Robsauto wants to get out there, and so does Keith and Joe and Brian and Bryan.

I'm ready. I'll be bringing a pickup full of parts testing all day, but that is whats cool about Senator's. I would like to do it on a weekday for water conditions.
I'm going to test plates. Speed coat, sponsons stock stepped vs. R&D vs. R&D mounts with composite (.200" thick Aerospace grade autoclave cured)
intake grate tests
800 grate modified
I want 75 out of a stock engine with milled head, no advance key, V-Force reeds, stock carbs butterflies in, stock ignition, electric powervalved engine. I know its there. I just need to get the combo right.
I'm not too worried about carving, but I detest porpoising. So no runs without tabs
What yall think???
