    Oil Overfill from Dealership!

I just hit 28 hours on my new ski so i decided to do the full lube thing and when i checked the oil i found it was about 1 1/4" above the full mark! I have never added any oil to it and my bad for not checking it sooner but should I drain some of the oil out and what can happen from it being over full?

use the "nitro method" for checking your oil.

After setting overnight, level ski at the motor, insert the dip stick at the rear fill point below the turbo and read it there.

    Did you do that?

Just assuming you don't know its a dry sump system, the main oil tank is external of the engine and "houses" the oil versus the crankcase. The motor needs to be warmed up, then shut off, then the dipstick pulled out and checked. The "Nitro" method is the easiest to understand. The rear oil check cap is under the black tapered turbo intake air tube. It's a lot smaller than the main dipstick cap. Be careful not to lose it (drop it).

i read the manual and do understand it being a dry sump system and that is what i did ran the engine for about 10 minutes layed a level across the engine made sure it was level and checked...thanks for a better explanation of where this second oil filler cap is.

I will be riding with some seasoned jet skiers this weekend so i will have one of them have a look for me.

Thanks for your help guys much appreciated!

Confirmed, im just under 46 hours on my ski and i am changing the oil today and so far i have pulled 6.2L of oil out of the engine! Thats 6.5 quarts and the manual says it has a 4.4 quart capacity so yes i think it was just a tad bit overfull!

What can oil overfil cause im asking because it seems the engine is running a bit rough maybe the plugs are already fouling out?

When you do the oil change, refill with 4 quarts, and you're done.

    Gas in Oil?

How does the oil smell that you took out? Gas? Maybe you're getting
GIO like some Kawasaki's experience. That's the symptom, more fluid after running.

For Honda, it does not appear to be an issue......just change oil every 25 hours.
