2 place trailer, one behind the other

I have this boat trailer that I think would work perfect for 2 jetskis. The trailer measures 20' from the winch tower to the back of the bunks. Since a typical 2 seater is 9' long, it would be nearly perfect length. Launching at the boat ramp would be a breeze since the trailer would be backed further into the water. The skis should catch less wind when towing down the road. Would anybody besides me prefer a trailer setup like this rather than a double wide?

How will you handle the winch mounting for the second PWC?

Should be OK long as the ramps you use allow the wheels to go really deep to launch the forward PWC.

I know some of the ramps I use the wheels would get stuck in the muck or caught behind the bottom edge of the ramp slab if I backed down any farther than I do with my regular double trailer.

The rear jet ski could be held on with a few ratchet straps. Bolt a couple eyelets to the frame rails, and it would be simple. I figure a strap from the bow to each frame rail and one strap in the rear. I know what you're saying about the boat ramps dropping off into sludge. However, you'd never have to back your rear tires into the water. Better traction that way, and for me, 4wd to boot. I normally use 4-lo when pulling a boat out of the water...much easier on my clutch.

    Easy.
Run a cross member between the frame rail just behind the first ski. You can then weld a piece of 3.5"id x 4"od sguare tube to the brace to use as a receiver for your winch post. Weld a piece of flat plate to the bottom of it. Then get you a 3"x30" piece of square tube to make a winch post. Drop the 3" tube in the 3.5" holder then drill a 1/2" hole all the way through. Then you just put a removable pin so you can pull the 30" winch post out to get to your 1st ski.
This was what I did when I built my 4 place trailer.
I will see if I can dig up some pictures.

I like it. You could add a mid removable winch pillar like the triton 4 place trailers have.
You will know if the trailer falls off the end of the ramp and can guage your exit speed accordingly. As long as the drop off is less tham half the height of the tire (radius) it should come out easily. The front ski will probably still be partially floating so you probably dont have to lift the entire weight of that ski up the edge of the drop off as you pull out to load the second one.

    Kirk-
That's the first thought that came to mind...making the removable winch tower. I then got to thinking that an eyelet on each frame rail would be easier and quicker. I've been around ATV's for years, so using ratchet straps to secure them is just second nature.

I do like the setup you have there for the 3 skis.

I tried the eye bolts and straps first. For what ever reason, the ski seamed to always move some and the straps would loosen up. I sometimes travel long distances and I did not want to take a chance on one ski moving and hitting the other.

    Ps,
It only takes a vew seconds to pull the bracket.

So, its my understanding I can buy and adjust a small boat trailer and use it as a single ski trailer? Boat trailers in my area are almost free and pwc trailers are spendy (new) and hard to find used.

Depends on the ratings. Your ski may weigh over 1000lb's full of fuel.

Sometimes it's tough to find out if that old "1971 trailer" is rated for that much weight. Do your homework!!!
