Need help deciding - Honda F12X or Kawasaki STX-15F?
I've been looking for an used, low hour ski that will not break the bank.
I've found the following two options but since I'm new at PWCs, would like opinions on what to choose:
Option 1: 2002 Honda Aquatrax F-12X turbo 65 hours mint condition with trailer $4500.
Option 2: 2006 Kawasaki STX-15F 12 hours, like new, with trailer $5000. Extended warranty to 2011.
I will use the ski just to ride with the family (2 children or 1 adult), eventualy pull a tube.
What are the pros and cons of each? Any opinions?

I wouldn't take a used Honda turbocharged without a warranty. If the turbo goes out you are looking at a big expense. The 15f looks like the best deal since you have the warranty also. I know a few people that have had issues with the turbo after about a 3 year period. The speed is about the same with the 15f probably being a little faster since I have kept up with the r12x easily. The fuel consumption is the same also. Why buy the old 2002 when you can buy a practically new 2006. Now if you look around someone in our club just found a brand new honda f12x that was a left over and it was i believe a 2007.

My wife has been on both and she found the honda to be much less stable. She agrees with me the 15f all the way.

I'd likely go with the JT1500 with 12 hours. There are a couple of bulletins on it and items to check. The fuel tank vent at the handlebars and the cooling system fitting that rots off would be prudent to check out.Cheap and simple to deal with. I believe the latter is likely done on the 2006 but I'd check anyway. If you ride hard the rubber pads under the first muffler need to be rebonded to the seating surface on the hull with RTV. The other thing is it has no supercharger to deal with....and people are doing some dealing.
Fuel burn is like 9-10GPH running hard. The hull is very stable and short for what it is allowing for both agility and stability within its design speed...it is what it is, a family style recreational steed. 5K with warranty and 12 hours TSN with a trailer ain't bad.

I was torn between the same two models this past summer, '08 15F and 07 F12X, both were new. After riding both, I went with the 15F and couldn't be happier. Both are fun, I love the acceleration of the Kaw and no turbo to worry about..
