The directions that were included in the rebuild kit say, the marker line faces UP.(The side of the disk that the marker line was actually drawn on)

I wonder how important this really is. I've had rebuild kits come without the line on them so which is which for older 38's and even 46 "NON I" carbs. Has anyone ever tested to see if it really does matter? If you look at it...it simply plastic circle...and even with a high power mag ...you can't see any curves or anything on the plastic itself. I heard that the line was simply for spacing of the "inner" circle and that's it

    Thoughts?

The plastic material they stamp these from comes on a roll. The line is there to mark the curvature of the roll. I have seen this line marked on all the various Mikuni kits and check valves I have purchased.

Thanks Bill....that makes sense. I can't say that I've ran into any issues in the last 10 years with issues from using them backwards or with the line's "facing up". I guess the qusetion is what type of symtoms would one experience since the fuel flows through these right before the high speed? I mean it makes sense for the most pressure to keep them seated...but it's not like they 'check valves' are the size of a half dollar. The skis I've gone through the carbs all ran great ...so what would be some symptoms?

I mean clearly the fuel would not be pumped into the carb and the ski would fall all over itself if it was a case of it leaking or "not sealing". That flapper valve is susposed to keep gas from backfeeding away from the jets, not through them...so I would assume it could be picked up with a loss in rpm as in lean condition right?

The gas washes the line off pretty quick.

Swapped all 5 carbs out tonight....what a beach....once the engine is in the hull with the Raider...

I'm not sure if it reallys matters "and don't think it does"...but I guess I took the most safe route.
