Filling pump with oil
According to the manual you fill to the bottom of the threads. my question is is that holding the pump horizontal or vertical

Keep it horizontal. You want a little bit of air at the top for expansion.
I put the pump nose down first and fill it with the cone off then install the cone and set it flat and fill the rest of the way. You have to let it sit between filling while prop down as it takes some time to drip into the bearing cavity.

You will need a pipe plug with a hose nipple on it to screw into the plug hole.
Pump it to 10psi and it should hold for at least 10 minutes.

ah, i know what you are talking about now. i will be changing my fluid along with the wear ring this weekend. i didnt know they should be pressure tested. makes perfect sense since its always submerged though.
