i just did mine awile back. I used a 2x12 and i think mine was 8 feet of presure treated wood. Used costco carpet that was outdoor and very cheap. Used stainless steel screws to attach carpet. Hardest part was finding u-bolts that were squared to fit the trailer. Had to go to a trailer place and pay way more than they were worth. Check to see if your center light will be an issue and where your tie down holes are I had to cut out a section of mine walkway with a sawsall in the middle to get the tie downs to fit.

    This house or that house
I am also doing one on my trailer project.

I will use some aluminum plate, but use some rubber grippy "tiles" on top of it. You can get them a Harbour Freight for a like 39cents each for one 12"x12"

They are adhesive backed and stick like a mother. I have used them before on other things
