Mechanical trim tabs & MODDED PLATE

I have a R&D Mechanical trim that comes with a ride plate. But I would like to use one of my modded plate. Should I trim the corners of my modded plate and have the trim shaved down and shim it as needed? has anyone tried this?

    yup.
You shouldn't need to put ANY washers under your mech tabs. Just play with your "rest" position on the movable tabs, using adjustment on the lever mechanism. If your's doesn't have adjustability, then go to a motorcycle shop and match the lever up with a clutch assembly.
