    Exclamation Rideplate mounting question

What are the 2 square holes in my Riva plate right on the front edge where the plate meets the hull/transom? I see that some people file a relief/taper to the plate in that area. And should there be a step from the pump shoe to the ride plate, or should they be level with one another??

I think the holes your talking about are for the Speedo sensor. The pump shoe and plate should be as even as possible. You will have a very slight gap in between. Does the ski have its pump shoe sealed? Some times a sealed pump shoe that is done incorrectly will be raised to high and cause speed loss.

Those are transfer slots. They keep the pressure around the pump area equalized. You should radius the edge so you don't have a flat edge hitting the water and creating drag.

Yes, that is what I am talking abought. I did put a slight angle on them only because I have seen pics. of Green Hulk forum members skis done like that. I have also seen the BAD results of filling that in even to the pump shoe!!
