Microfiche can be scanned using a regular flat bed scanner (high quality type), but it takes a lot of time.
Each fiche sheet needs to be carefully scanned, then electronically 'clipped apart' into separate 'pages'. Each fiche 'page' is converted to a positive (black ink on white background) from a negative, then converted to PDF pages and OCR'ed.
At every step, someone needs to look at each page, and make sure the results are correct.
Doable, but not a quick task.
I think there are commercial services that do microfiche conversions, but I imagine they are not cheap, since there is a lot of human effort involved.
As long as Polaris keeps their parts info available online, I don't see the need to extract it from the microfiche.
That said, does anyone have access to additional PDF parts manuals that can be added to this list?
