First you would have to sell it and then buy a sho or fzr or fzs

I remember hearing that Riva did some experiments with the VX...dropping FX160 engines in them, & due to the the hull's design they weren't able to get much speed out of it. Just enjoy it as is until you're ready to trade up.

He's right. Also you'll find the there isn't a real big market for aftermarket performance with the VX's.

First off, may I add that the hull is crap and very restrictive in gaining speeds. Second off, putting an FX 160 engine in the VX isn't really gonna do to much testing seeing as the VX has a detuned verson. I can see maybe 3-4 mph difference in the same hull. From experience, I think us VX guys can agree with the problem of the front of the hull design. When going 10 or slower it dips horribly and even at speeds of 40, it just seems not enough of the hull is getting out of the water. I can't see this hull being able to achieve over 70 with a suprecharger, don't even waste your time. For the amount to buy the ski + supercharger it, ya might as well buy an FZS

Ya spend 13,000 for an over priced FZS that will get you on the water quickly or spend 8000 for VX that will get you out on the water.... sorry, but after recently trying out the FZR, despite horsepower, ALL Yamaha hulls have the same characteristics....hulls skip and bounce in the chop, wet ride, and the loose handlebars feel like something off the kiddie ride in front of K-mart.
I love Yamaha for their design and durability, but I thought the fit and feel was going to light years difference from my VX. I think the FZ series market price, compared to other brands, seems a little steep for what it is.
Just buy a FZ it has cool gauges.

No really, trade up next year, like you said, but shop around and try everything out first before you buy.
