    Second largest lake in the US. IT is a big lake. I have been to it via the Kissimmee River but never explored it, nor do I know of any good riding places around the lake.

    There are a lot of ramps.
    I will check first the closest ramp from Miami on HWY27
    Near camping - http://www.pbcgov.com/parks/camping/southbay/
    Ramp map - http://www.google.com/maps?q=100+Lev...uth+Bay+FL+USA
    Looks small.

    Another big ramp few miles north http://www.clewiston.govoffice2.com/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC={00E7EAEA-8E37-4947-A9D4-0FF7B12A41F1}

    Any suggestion?

    Some input on Lake Okeechobee

    This can't be the 2nd biggest lake........the Great Lakes in MI must be
    1,2,3 and 4....

    The lake is only about 5 to 15 feet deep. The shoreline is shallow and full of tree stumps. There is a "channel" that goes across from east to west.
    It is possible to traverse Fl from Stuart to Ft. Myers using Lake O as the connector. Local knowledge is pretty important.

    It's pretty boring to run around it unless you're into fishing. The real riding is on the rivers that feed it from the north, ie Kissimmee. The SoFla Riders just had a 40 jetski meet last weekend up there.

    A better ride is to go north and northeast of Orlando on the St. John's River. There's fresh water springs, twistys and some wide water.

    Tom, is any speed limit on the lake (except slow zone near ramps and bridges)?
    I just want to go full speed for a while.

    Can I join your club?

    I've never ridden on the lake. But other than near the three locks (east, west and north sides) I don't think you will have a problem. Who knows maybe Google Earth will be taking an update pix on the day you ride and you will be immortal forever! (or until the next update)

    Yeah, join the club, you'll never have to ride alone again.........then again after riding with us crazies you may want to ride alone!
