another comment..i ran it next to my other stock ski and it was probably moving ahead by a ski length every 15 seconds....plus the rider on the other ski was at least 50 lbs heavier than me

on T-X I saw no more than 50 rpm difference between the grates when I tested them all.. what were your rpm before?

weather change from one day to the next can easily cause 100 rpm difference.

You should normally be at 8000 RPM's on an X model ski so your RPM's aren't that low.

Other causes of low RPM are over filled oil or a worn wear ring.

I have another question. Between the shaft and impeller is a rubber washer of sum sort. Directly behind where the rideplate and intake grates meet..what is it and mine seems to be off to one side. Can that be causing the resistance to lower the rpms.. What should I do about it?

Thats sounds like your impeller nose cone. If it walked up the shaft it can cause cavitation and possibly low RPM's.

Yep, the stock intake grate on the X model is designed to slow the ski down. Just changing out the grate is good for 2.5+ mph.
