wanting info 95 spx
local ad for a 95 spx and a karavan trailer. very low compression on one cylinder and low on the other. I'm just looking to fix it and ride it. I know i'm a yamaha guy but I wouldnt mind having another one around to ride.
obviously needs cylinder repaired. The guy says he pulled the head and there's no damage so he thinks it is just the rings.
What should the compression be?
What do these go for in good running condition with trailer?
What would YOU give for one of these non running?
What is an estimated cost of repair if I do the work myself?

I got a 95XP with a not so fresh rebuild(maybe 20 hours since 9 but I manage to ride it one a year just to keep the gremlins out of it. comes with an aluminum trailer. its in the classified section....just an option. its got a bigger motor than the SPX tho
to answer your questions
maybe 500 with the trailer.
just the ski not running 200
cost of repair would be a top end
200 max for cylinder honing. 200 for pistons. gaskets maybe 50 your problably looking at 500 max if you did it your self

should be about 150ish. correct me if i am wrong?
i have a complete ones that runs and compression is perfect. i have not pulled the head to look at everything. not a beauty queen and i have no title so i plan on parting it out when/if the market gets better. if not, i may fix it up for the gf.

that sounds high but could be right i guess. anyone else take a gander? do you think this just needs a top end rebuild? any other problems these skis are notorious for?

150 is right for a sea doo. yamaha gets its reliability from lower compression motors like you are used to.

Hi, I just purchased a 94 seadoo spx, ski overall good shape/nice trailer. The compression was 153/152. The ski needs either crank or rotary valve seal.
Picked it up for $750
I would guess your ski just needs a top end, is yours leaking oil out of the exhaust. If it is I would consider tearing it down/maybe getting a sbt reman.

are you talking about yours or his? there is not need for a reman if all it needs is a top it. if the crank is good, make sure your cylinders have enough room for a bore/hone and throw a top end on it and be done.
as far as yours, steven, does the ski sill have oil injection or is it running premix?
