    Thumbs up My couch build

THIS SKI STARTED LIFE AS A 04 GTX 155. I BOUGHT IT INITAILY FOR THE ENGINE WHICH IS ALMOST DONE. WHATS FUNNY ABOUT THIS SKI IS THAT I TOOK ALL THE PARTS OFF I NEEDED FROM IT AND TOOK IT TO THE TOWN LANDFILL. A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER I THOUGHT TO MY SELF DAMB I WISH I KEPT IT BECAUSE I WOULD LOVE TO BUILD A 3 SEATER. WELL I WENT BACK TO THE LANDFILL AND FORTUNATLY THE GUY WHO WORKS THERE PULLED IT ASIDE AND HID IT.WELL I GOT IT BACK LUCKALY AND HERE IT IS UGLY AS SIN, BUT NOT FOR LONG. I PAID 1500 FOR THE SKI FROM MY LOCAL MARINA THAT I DEAL WITH.

MY GOAL IN MIND IS TO BUILD THE ULTIMATE SPEED DEMON 3SEATER. IT'S GONNA BE TURBOCHARGED WITH MIN OF 30 PSI BOOST. SO PAY ATTENTION TO THIS AS IT WILL BE ONE KILLER BUILD....

I STARTED TRUEING THE HULL. I'M USING 180 GRIT ON A LONG BOARD. TOOK THE HOOK OUT OF ONE SIDE SO FAR. I CHOOSE 180 BECAUSE IT DOESNT GOUGE THE HULL AND WHEN I FINALIZE THE FINISH IT WONT TAKE TOO LONG TO CLEAN IT UP.

i used to own the same ski once! that's an 03 ... loved the thing. 130 hours in one season i put on it, never let me down...

good luck with the build... looking forward to the end result!

i hope the hull truing thing works out... i had my 3-seater trued and re-gelcoted and done up by a pro in the sport and never felt like my ski was quite the same after it... think my speeds went down actually... maybe measure the other side u didn't do yet and document the stock contour in case u ever gotta return it to stock specs with hook... i know mine didn't like it too much

What was your ski doing after you removed the hook?

Sweet!! Cant wait to see the results. Long live the 3 seaters!
Are you going to go with the 08 RXT-X pump shoe, intake grate, and ride plate to eliminate the crap design of the brass inserts on the pump shoe?

So what are the advantages and disadvantages of taking the hook out of the ski's? I know Jerry wrote something on this subject but that was a while back. I've heard that you gain a little speed but sacrafice some handling.
