Would this work??
Could you remove the silencer "bulb" on an 01 GPR and run one of the fresh air hoses from teh front cowl in place of it connected to the intake pipe and make a pseudo ram-air?

NO - If it turned over, you could potentially suck water directly into the motor.
Remove the factory 'resonator' in front of the motor, and the 'bulb'...leave the rubber Y-pipe, or remove it, doesn't matter.
But don't connect the fresh air tube.

This is a good point but I was thinking of drilling some drain holes in the bottom of the factory air box to keep that from happening, as you right the craft, the the water would run downhill and out the lowest point of the intake system. This was just an idea i was brain-storming at the office.

So I can tell you a little story about a couple of good friends of mine, (well, they were until they read this ) that directed that pipe RIGHT AT the carbs. Now they were at a race site, known to be rough water... when the water started coming over the hood, it got into the air intake pipe, and shot straight into the middle carb...causing it to seize the middle cylinder.
It was repaired at the site, and no big deal, but I would HIGHLY advise against running the hoses straight to any air intakes.
If you just go in a straight line, and on smooth water, I don't think it matters what you do with them. The high speed guys on here just take them off, along with their flotation foam.
