I noticed the part number for 04 models is different than 05-06 which are the same, whats the difference and will 06 manifold fit 04?

anyone know why they would change part numbers?

Cause they have nothing better to do??
If you go and look up the 04 manifold and an 06 you will see BRP has now made them the same part number..

I think for 08+ they changed the casting slightly to relocate the hole near the rear that can be tapped for A/F...from the side to the top...Check out Reid's thread where he tapped it...

you know how many hundreds upon hundreds of part numbers for 4-tecs and any other ski have changed but look identical or close to the same?
sometimes they switch mfgs, sometimes they switch material content, sometimes they make an update... they gotta keep track of where each part originated from, who supplied that one to them, which process was used to produce that part in the event of failure and/or warranty work
countless parts with different part numbers that will all universally work on all 4-tecs
u can place an order with seadoo using the exhaust manifold part number from a 2002 4-tec parts diagram... they wont send you that part tho. they will let you input that old part number, and their system automatically supecedes it to their new assigned part number with the newest manufactured part and that's what ur getting... they'll send u a 2009 model exhaust manifold for your 2002

this may not apply to any Sea Doo ever built, but on cars the new part that supercedes prior year parts is engineered to also replace the parts on the older models. It does not necessarily work the other way around, i.e. the older part can not always be installed on the newer vehicle because of changes that may have been made to the part.
moral of the story, if you don't know if it will work it's always good to ask
