    pump Bushing question

the 144/155 mm pump shaft bushing is a 6 finger rubber isolator over a bronze center bushing...

anything special about pushing this in? feel safer asking as this can be expensive to re replace at o/e/m prices..

    replacing the seals too...

    thank's

That bushing is to help keep the shaft aligned going thru the pump shoe housing. It needs to go in straight. I found that it helps to press these seals and bushing in with a drive shaft sticking thru to keep it in place while you are pushing them in.

this will keep everything lined up and straight when you seat them.

thanks j-dog the WR'S have actual roller bearings and not bushings like the GP pumps, so i was thinking that installation wouLd be pretty much identical, but you never know what kink may fowl up the works .. was wondering about freezing this and it srinking a tad, to make its pushing in easyer..????

no, no mix up... I know the GP uses 1 bushing in the 'tube' front half, 2 bearings rear stator half..

WR's use 1 bearing in the 'tube' front, 2 bearings in the rear stator half ..

just asking if there was a secret to pushing that bushing into the GP tube easyer..

I only mentioned the WR earlyer to let jd800 know I was familiar with the actual work involved
    thanks for the concern !!

wr/wj500's lx650 use the ball bearing front 88/93..
gp760/1200 use the bushing front 97-99..has a 65u prefix number ( possibly used later on newer style 155mm pumps as they didnt change that radicaly )
