    Unhappy 1999 gp1200 please help

I recently purchased a '99 gp 1200. I am new to waverunners... The ski runs well, the only problem i have is when i take off hard, it accelarates but it does not shoot out of the water the way it should. I was advised that it could be a pump or prop issue. How can i determine which it is? What do you pros recommend?

    Thanks!

Pull the pump. If the motor is good, and it is cavitating out of the hole, it is in your pump.

The clearance between your impeller and impeller housing is a good place to start. Do you have a service manual?

Any clearance beyond .020" ...you will lose efficency and thrust. Ideally you want about .007-.010 side to side with .024" discard level
