I've used about 30 gallons of 2M with no problems but I ride my ski like a little old grandma on a sunday drive.

What is the spec on each oil?

    Is one synthetic?

TC-W3 rated, or ISO EGD rated?

Here is a previous post regarding Polaris 2-stroke oils.

With the variable flow rate oil pump, usually there is very little oil smoke from a properly running Polaris. I almost never see any smoke from mine.

If you can purchase synthetic TC-W3 2-stroke oil, it tends to smoke less than the regular, and provides better lubrication.

Is it okay to switch from reg. to syn? Is it better to pre-mix a little when you make a change?

The method I see recommended (and use myself) is to run the oil tank down to near empty (but not so empty that you risk getting air bubbles into the oil lines).

Then fill with synthetic oil, and enjoy the ride.

One of the specs for TC-W3 oils, is that they are compatible with each other.

Use Yamalube 2S if thats the brand you want. Long explanation as to why, but it will protect this type of engine better...especially if you run 'er hard.
