    Oil Filter Change, Stuck Filter

Trying to change the oil filter today and the filter is stuck on there. Now it has punctured and is partially crushed from my trying to remove it. I thought it would easily come off with a large pliers but nope. Any tips

Tips-use the correct tool next time. For now you may have luck with a wide fabric strap wrench provided you didn't mess up the filter too much. It's a bitch to get at for sure and the suckers tighten up from the heat. I beat my fore arms to a snot doing mine a few weeks ago. Hopefully the strap wrench will work-otherwise if things become serious we may have to "blast"

Get yourself one of those band type oil filter wrenches. You can find them at your local auto parts store. I had the same issue and used that tool. Came right off.

just tried the band type wrench, no luck, it just slips and does not grab it. Did not find a fabric type wrench at the parts store.

Did this one time on a friends ski!! stick a phillips screwdriver through the filter and use leverage to twist off. His was rusted on a 12F motor, lot less room on the 250, but what have you got to lose? or on the band type, cut a piece of tire tube and drape over filter and try turning with tool.

well, tried a fabric type wrench, no luck, just will not spin off. The tire tube idea may work. Hmm let me see which of my neigbors cars has a tube in it

I used a wrench form a auto store and has 3 prong type system,,and it goes over the filter closes up on it and then uses the 3/8 drive ratchet to turn.
I went to a Kawasaki bike shop and they use them on the road bikes.
Use the right tools always easier.
