    GP1300R 2006: D-plate chip

I saw somebody writing (on another forum):

    ---
What year GPR do you have? between 06 and 07 the chip might not work with the d-plate. Your gonna have to use a 2.2k resistor(radio shack). The only that sucks is the wiring is aluminum and a pain the a** to get the resistor to solder.
    ---

I have a 2006 GP1300R (black/yellow) and from the thread (which oil in gp1300r) here at greenhulk, I decided to get a d-plate + chip

Is there any way to check in advance if a chip will work on my ski?

Otherwise, the 2.2k resistor, in what wire i have to put it? is it a 2wire cable to the current cat-sensor? So just cut and bridge it together with 2.2 in between?

    thanks in advance....

You cut the temperature sensor that is near the cat/con. Following the wiring to where the connection is. I cut the wire about 4 inchs from the connection. Took a 2.2k resistor just a little bit of solder to get it hold took electrical shrink wrap and wrapped it all together and heated the shrink. It held doing it this way and no water gets near it. But that its correct the wiring is will not solder but you can kinda get a something to hold it. I just hate wrapping the wiring with out something holding it.

Ok thanks on the advise on installing the resistor. but, before that, is there any way to check in advance if the chip will work on my ski?
And what kind of problem/alarm could I expect if the chip does not work?

the chip will not work.....here are your options....
    1. disconnect the sensor and ziptie it up. (buzzer might go off. usually goes off if you cruise at the same speed for 10-15 minutes)
    2. cut the wires and solder a 2.2 ohm resistor, plug it in and call it a day

yes sorry. 2.2k ohm....on some skis the buzzer will go off immediatly but some (like mine) only went off if i cruised at the same speed for 15 minutes. then i would have to hit the warning button on the gauge cluster to stop the buzzing
