    EFI controller ground wire?

I have read several times here that some guys are having "ground wire" issues. I can understand that vibration weeakens the crimped eyelet and the wire breaks or starts to break.

I`m going to guessthat some of you have used a heavier gauge wire at the ground eyelet, OK,
Now where are you bolting your ground wire on a NON PV EFI 1300? Thanks...

Andy.... The wire breaks up by the module, which is why it typically can't be repaired. Try to mount the module flat so that the wire isn't bent right away.

wow, no-shit, sounds like a manufacturing fck up...

the controller is mounted with wire out the top of the unit. it is above and to the left of the efi ecu up front...

can anything be done to prevent this?

    epoxy, silicone, etc...

also here is where this happened to Ross

OK, here is what I did for the ground wire:

used a heavier gauge wire, stripped wire long enough to get enough length for solder to keep wire stiff, soldered the wire end , inserted wire into eyelet, crimp, solder wire to eyelet. use primary heat shrink (black), slip larger heat shrink over finished end (red). Done with this end.

cut off factory eyelet on the riva unit, measured wire length, stripped wire for solder to end, stripped new ground wire, soldered end, insert into heat shrink self sealing butt connector also using primary black heat shrink.

wire attached to ground on head up front as recommended by some of you guys. zip tied into place and Done***... Amen...

now I need to go to the chiropractor

    is it overkill, absolutely!

Thats exactly the way it should be done.. Heavier gauge wire with solder will stop both salt corrosion and the flexing of the wire, and should last for years of worry free riding.
Great pics... Everyone with a controller should do this... Not overkill at all IMO..
