    Jetting recommendations (96 XP)

Short story is I bought a 96XP that has had quite a few mods done to it (motor and handling). I went ahead and rebuilt the carbs recently and I'm curious what would be recommended for jetting the carbs.

    Mods are:

    -Rossier pipe
    -MSD Ignition enhancer bumped 2*
    -Westcoast flame arrestor
-supposedly has raised compression but when I checked it it was right around 155 or so not much of a difference form stock there
    -Not sure on the impeller.

When I pulled the carbs apart previous owner had installed 145 main jets instead of the factory 142.5 but also had the HSA out about 2.5 turns. low speed jet is still using the factory 70 with the LSA out almost 2 turns which seems exceptionally rich. Ski never really seemed to run that strong except for a few times when the motor really turned on and it went like hell. Any recommendations on a good starting point would be greatly ppreciated!!

There are many improvements that can be made. On the carbs, try 80 pilots, 2.0 n&s, (1.5 out), and 80 gram springs. Leave the 145 highs,(1 turn out). I would spend the money and buy the Fly Flame Arrestors and adapters. The Westcoast make nowhere near the power of the Flys.

Lose the R&D tabs and grate, they both place excessive load on the engine and kill top speed by the tune of 2-3 mph.

Also install a Jetworks flow valve in the stinger if you haven't already done so. If you lose the grate and tabs, put a 100 jet under the midpipe elbow.

Depending on the prop you have, it should be turning 71-7200 rpm.

Thanks for the help! Hopefully this thing will be screaming after some tuning!

The guy before me removed all of the water injection stuff that was going into the waterbox and just used a pipe plug to seal it up. So I"m not really sure what all is missing in that category I suppose as I havent been able to check out a bone stock XP yet. Forgive me for my dumb question but where exactly is the stinger? Is this the section of pipe that narrows down and goes into a hose that goes to the waterbox?

Look at your first pic, of the driveshaft, can the engine be any more crooked? Make sure you line it up properly before riding it, as in this position the splines are going to strip on your PTO.

Yes, the stinger is where you describe. The current water routing will work.

It's removed when the pipe was installed. Feshwater skis never need flushing.
