Bad battery? other probelm? please help

well, after replacing carbon ring, and installing catch can, and strainer.. thanks Justin (rxpblast), I have ridden the ski twice, no issues... so it seems.. one thing I have noticed is that sometimes it wont start right away, it will just "click" when I hit start... and twice, it cut off while riding, at about 3500 rpms. I would hit start and just hear a click and then wait and maybe on the second or third time trying it would start, no issues. My battery was filled with water at the end of the riding season last year and was stored inside, never on a trickle charger or anything... could this be my battery or something with the ski itself? I am getting no warning or codes, just shuts off and takes a few times to get it started back up... any help is greatly appreciated, thank you

Sounds like the battery. You should keep it on a trickle charger when your not using it. I would say it might be the starter relay, but I don't believe that would cause your ski to cut out while riding. I'm sure others will chime in.

I would check the voltage of the battery with a volt-ohm meter. If it's fully charged, you should see +12.5 volts or more. When the ski is running you should see +13.5 vdc or better if it's being charged... Ron

I just got done fixing the exact same problem today however I think mine may be a little more drastic, What you hear clicking is the starter relay most likely, Things to check, clean grounds on the front of the engine, positive leads are all clean and tight, starter. Mine ended up being the starter, a magnet had shattered and it was not allowing the starter to spin, new starter and it fired right up, take a look at this thread and check out the possibilities. http://greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=88051

    good luck,

    -david

thanks, I read your thread, I hope its not the starter, that would be a big headache... It has only done it a couple times, other times it starts right up and runs fine. It only shut off on me once at 3500 rpms and then started right up afterwards. Sometimes I'll turn it off and just get the click a couple times and then it fires... I am going to start by checking all connections
