    removing exhaust tips

Did a search with little results..

So here’s the question. How do you remove the exhaust tip that goes out the rear. I am talking about a 96 xp here but almost every seadoo has this exhaust outlet in the back.

So how the heck do you get it off. I am guessing you get a screw driver and hit the little tabs and spin it off..? Even with my little monkey body i can't seem to make that work.

So are there any tricks or tools to do this?

thanks for the input and possibly saving my body from being completely inside a xp hull.

Dealer has a special socket that fits it. Try to rent one from them or get them to lend it with a deposit. They sold you the part I'm sure they would try to help..

I tried using a strap wrench, but couldn't get enough room to move it. I ended up taking a large & long screwdiver and tapped the nut with a hammer in the loosening direction until it came loose(handle of the screwdriver over the pump tunnel). Comes off easy once the nut is loose. I was able to get the strap wrench on it to tighten it when I put it back on.

I've heard of people making a socket from a piece of schedule 40 PVC too.

That's a great idea. You might try heating the end of a section until it gets soft and pushing it over the nut to form a hex. When it cools you should be able to use it as a socket.
