    Cape Fear River Run

Smokewagon, his father (who is 70 years old) and myself went for a little spring ride on the Cape Fear yesterday. We went downstream this time about 20 miles to the port of Wilmington, SC and then back upriver on a different branch of the Cape Fear. Somewhere along the line,we turned onto the Black River. We stopped and had lunch on an island in the middle of nowhere and shot handguns for a couple of hours and then it was back in the saddle. It was beautiful country and you could hear the banjo's off in the distance. All told, we racked up 150 miles of laughs and smiles. I actually arrived at the ramp with the fuel warning flashing for the last 15 miles, no bars showing and I still had a full 5 gal can (out of three) left in the rack. All 3 ski's ran flawlessly and I actually picked up 100 rpm from the gas rack (no lie). Kudo's to Smokewagon's dad who is in better shape then me and rode the hell out of that little Virage. I think he deserve's a screen name smoke. I have 1.5 hours of video footage that I have to review and download but here's a couple of pic's at the lunch stop.

I'm beat up today. But it was fun getting it. And, of course, I had a bunch of chores to do today and couldn't lay around being lazy. When I got home last nite, my neighbor was having a cajun shrimp boil party and I lasted until about 9:30 and ran out of steam. Didn't make it past 1 beer.

LOL, that was just for the T-X! I don't remember if we put any gas in the Virage. Smoke said it had almost a 1/4 tank with 10 miles left to go. Smoke's MSX, which is a damn nice ski by the way, took one 2.5 gal jug at the 10 to go mark when it started sputtering. The T-X needs a 20 gallon tank at the very least IMO. I did have one 5 gal can left in reserve for anyone that ran out but it wasn't needed. I hit the ramp with little or no gas left in the tank. I had topped it off to the cap and went thru two cans with 11 gal between the two of them. My range is greater then I thought with three cans. I think I'm good for maybe 175 miles. And I was in the throttle quite a bit.All told I can carry about 32 gallons.
