    Smoke?

I got my ski started this evening (2000 XLL) for the first time this year (cranked it with the plugs out and then put them back in and it fired right up!) and it is smoking out the back quite a bunch. How much is normal? I am wondering if its just burning off the WD40 I had sprayed on the engine for the off season or if its something else? after I started it I ran it on the hose for about 10 minutes and the smoke cleared up some but a decent amount is still there. Its a pretty thick white smoke and although I know some is to be expected from any engine I don't know how much is too much?? Any suggestions? I had a shop install some parts last year and they did the first start of the year so I don't know if this is normal for my ski or not... sorry if this is a stupid question but I just want to make sure everything is ok.

Yellow 93, you need to drop into the water and go for a run, there is no load on the engine sitting on the trailer, so the smoke will not abate. A good brisk burst for 10 to 20 minutes (Italian tune-up) will solve your problem. REXA.

Its a two-stroke, its going to smoke, especially out of the water.
It also depends on the type of oil used also and if its premix, how much you have mixed.

Like rexa said, put that thing in the water. You can't diagnose much on the trailer.

Install new plugs if they are old.

Also do a compression check to get a baseline for the season.

Watch your tach to help keep track of your engines performance.

also, don't use WD-40. Not good for plastic and rubber components over time....
