Exclamation Stinger Removal in a 2002 xlt 1200

So I've read through cajundude's article on stinger removal http://www.cajundude.com/stingerremoval.htm. His ski is a 2002 GP1200R though (mine is the same year, but an xlt 1200). Does the electrical box have to be removed in the XLT like in the GP1200R?

The reason I ask is because with all bolts/clamps removed, I can't seem to pull the sucker out. It keeps getting caught on the lip of the hull. Are there any tricks to getting out the stinger on XLT's and GPR's?

It will come out of there, its just a matter of coming out in the correct position.

Got it out..had to do two things:
    1. Pull the electrical box and tie up out of the way
    2. Pull the lower stinger engine mount

The plastic hose attachment in the stinger gets hung up otherwise.

yeah, I always remove that rear bracket

you can do it with the CDI in there, you just have to hold your mouth right
