That cable has a tps built in. I would not waste your money on a used one.

I have yet to see one go bad. The mount at the carb side broke on ours.

They do go bad though. I had to replace it on my rxx because the tps was not working and it had my rpms down to 6400rpms. It took me a while to figure out the problem and was quite the aggrivation not to mention they are not the easiest cables to replace. FYI all the 2001 xp and rx carb model cables will work. Good luck.

They use it to detect anything over 7/8s throttle for timing advance. Its not really a typical tps as it only has 2 positions. Below 7/8s throttle it signals the ecu to hold back the timing and over 7/8s it kills the signal and allows the timing to advance.

    WTB RXX throttle cable

I need one also! My RPM's also stay in the low 6,000's no matter what I do.
Does the 2001 XP or RX cable really work? The part numbers are all different but the RXX cable (289-100-071) is $50 more than the XP (277-000-912) or the RX (277-000-915). Best new one I found was Alba for $174.
Once I get the steering cable and steering bearings that's all I hope I need!
My spare stock XP is fun but 51mph is not enough!!

Well, now that you mention it I believe the xp cable is shorter, You can put the rxx cable on the xp but probably not the other way around.
I'm not sure why the rx cable would be different though.

Nevermind, I bought one through RIVA.
