    Installing Sponsons

Hey, anyone have any tips for installing new sponsons? Mike (Seadoobutch) said its quite a long job, just wondering if anyone has some tips. Im starting to think that this would be an easier job w/out the engine in, but thats not an option haha.

yea, you basically have to gut your machine. pull the waterbox and the battery/ black box tray. cut out the styrofoam...its almost easier foryou to climb in the hull and lay there and install the sponsons.

I was lucky my hull was bare, but there is no need for the engine to be out. Just the watrebox and the battery. Like i said Phil heat up a putty knife and that thing will cut through that styrofoam like butter. Once you get that out it's alot easier to put them in.

Thats the easy part. You will be able to look at it and figure it out, its just a strap and the 2 hoses if I remember correctly. I used a 2in holesaw bit to cut through my styrofoam. My waterbox side is done but I haven't started the otherside yet. Also, it may be a pain to get the hoses off the waterbox. I just moved mine out of the way.

well, I got the waterbox out, it wasn't much fun at all lol. My next question is, does the styrofoam in there need to be in there for some reason? Or can I just take the chunk out. Also, im kinda rethinking this, the sponsons I got are a thick plastic, the brand is Tracker. Will plastic be ok? I don't want to do all this just to have something rip off.

thats all your stock ones are...what can be so different? Make sure that you put on some big washers on the inside of the hull. other wise your going to pull the bolts through the hull.

Yea I did some more research on Trackers and they seem to be reliable. I will continue installing tomorrow. I got my new R&D Extended tabs on today as well as back bumpers. I think that while I have my waterbox out I will put in my bilge pump as well.

Another thing is these sponsons are not movable, will I still be able to play around with these on? or will it catch and just throw me off

If you have a drill, you can make them adjustable.
