1st Oil Change before 10 hours?

I'm wondering how many of you perform the 1st oil change on a new ski, before hitting the 10 hour maintenance mark. I'm about 4.5 hours into the break-in on a new '08 RXT 215. Several of the more experienced posters have recommended changing the oil before 10 hours, some even recommended changing after 1 hour. Is this critical to life of the ski? Should I be changing mine now, and then again at 10 hours?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

I pull the dipstick after every ride during break in. When the oil starts to turn dark it's time to change it. I usually wait til 10+ hours.

I would say it's your choice but at 4.5 hours, you already have metal in the oil. I did mine at 6 and 16 hours and will be doing another one at 40 in 2 more hours.

changed oil and filter before it clicked over to 2 hours in mine. whenever I build a car engine the oil is changed the first time after 20-30 minutes of run time, before it hits the road...

"Critical"? No. Sea Doo recomends 10 hours. Can you go wrong there? No. Even if you stretched it out to 15 or 20 hours it won't kill your engine over 500 - 1,000 hours. I feel good about changing it right at 9 or 10 hours. I've done this on 5 different 4-tecs I've owned. Never had a problem.

Changing the oil before 10 hours is a waste of time and money. I would wait for 10 plus hours.
