    Smokeysevin's STX 900 conversion buildup

    Hey eveyone I have some friends with a 2001 stx 900 with a locked up motor that they may be willing to part with on the cheap so I figured I would start looking for some project ideas. I really want to build a monster 15f motor and drop it in, I'm looking for something in the neighborhood of 200 horsepower and preferably N/A, im figuring that a mild overbore with an offset ground crank and zx cams should put me near that with some head work and a header, I want this to be a test bed for everything that I have been wondering what if about and be dead reliable. so this is what I'm thinking

    buy the ski and strip it and sell all the 900 parts on the cheap
    pull everything and true the hull and clean everything up on the inside
    get a hold of a 12f or 15f motor and a zx12 or zx14 motor and swap as many parts over as I can
    do the head work and get a header
    overbore and maybe stroker
    make the entire thing show quality


    if there is anything else on here that yall think I should do or any problems post them up I have about a month before I get the hull

    Only thing I can think of is taking a second out on your home ! J/K

    Good luck with your project. You could get a 250X 155mm pump and put that in. Some work will need to be done to the shoe though.

    I was thinking something like that, along with running the 250x motor with a 15f intake and a vortec supercharger set up to run the same boost.

    So here is an update, I'm picking up the ski tomorrow and then the work begins on stripping the hull, I'll take LOTS of pictures

    stand pictures

    I have had a bit of a setback already but only a small one, the shop that has the ski at the moment was closed yesterday so I was unable to pick up the ski but being that I have a 12f and the hulls are very similar I built the stand yesterday.
    Its made out of two by fours and it is on 4 locking casters rated for 250 lbs each. The ski should be picked up sometime this week and I'll throw some pictures up when I get it.

    dumb question, why not start with a locked up or blown 15F? your gonna essentially need a complete one anyway

    I'm getting the hull for under $500 so it seemed like a good enough platform. besides I think it would be awesome to beat up on everyone in what looks like an old 900 two stroke.

    ITS HERE

    Got the ski today and I felt like a kid at Christmas, its in much better shape than i remember it, well with the exception of the motor, the shop pulled the head and the pipe that connects the header to the expansion chamber an neither one was put back... The bottom of the ski is in great shape with the exception of the middle and the hook at the front both need some gel kote work. I got the hood, grab handle, oil tank, gauges, handlebars, most of the exhaust, carbs and most of the fuel system out this afternoon. Now I need to figure out how to remove the motor, the rest of the exhaust, pump, and cdi then I can pull all the foam and give the hull a good douching. The nozzle and reverse bucket is the older style do yall think that i should replace them when i swap the pump or just leave them alone?

    Do i need to swap a 4 stroke fuel sender from a 4 stroke into the 2 stroke tank or do i need the entire tank?
