    ceramic or not

okay i have an 08 RXTX after reading recent posts i'm upgrading to steel washers....now i'm just trying to get a general idea of everyones opinion on the ceramic bearings...i've heard that they are the best thing since canned beer...and i've also heard they are a disaster waiting to happen. any info would be appreciated.

I've had 3 superchargers with ceramic bearings
2 were not assembeled by me and the bearings failed......making the impeller rub the front housing and ruin both.

The other one I assembeled myself (correctly) and after 30 hours I had no issues but sold the supercharger since then.

I'm not a big fan of them but I can't blame the bearings ....just the person who put them in.

I would personally stay away from them... I've read to many horror stories about them. I saw one SC locked up a few weeks back with 30 hrs. max on ceramic bearings that were installed by riva

Since you have an '08 or beyond ski, you are going to need to take the ski to a BRP dealer at around 100 hours for a mandatory check of the SC. If they rebuild it, it will be BRP parts... Ron

Don't the '08's have steel in the SC?

My dealer installed Riva washers for us and told me to stay with the metal bearings. Personally, I think any of these bearings can fail at any time (metal or ceramic), the entire SC is just a weak design---the Achilles heel of the Sea-Doos so to speak.
