Easy worthwhile mods for the FZS

    Hi there,

Recently purchased and FZs and would like to know which mods would be easy to complete for a novice (no advanced tools and limited knowledge). I would like to install a few mods that would not require increased manitenance or really chnage the ski dramatically in terms of engine. Looking to increase a the speed a bit and performance.

Have heard suggestions of exhaust, air intake....what do you suggest for those out there.

Please let me know which mods are easy and would be worthwhile and not too expensive.

Not wanting to put the warranty at issue or put the engine at risk.

    Thanks

    Riva power filter air intake
    Riva exhaust
    Riva intake manifold upgrade
    R&D pro pitch 12/22 impeller

If you want to take it a step further then add the following to the above setup

R&D C3 monster charger supercharger upgrade
    R&D Powershot engine tuner
    R&D pro pitch 13/25 impeller

Read all about these modifications and the verified gains here on this thread

I dunno if you can classify the RIVA intake manifold upgrade as "easy" lol

I agree with you there. Pain in the ass but it must be done.

Tackled this one yesterday with RayInJapan, and this mod may be the most cheap, performance must, smallest part to change out. However it needs a half day if your clueless like I was. Now that I have done it and know the small tricks to get the access maybe a few hours. What a PITA it was....glad it's over.

Jerry is the sleeve really needed? After getting in there and seeing the O ring it made me think that it might free up a few CFM's if just left out all together. Anyone try this? To big of a hassle to just "test" so went with the sleeve.

Are these 4 mods the best 4 things to try to get some easy, cheap performance. ??

    Riva power filter air intake
    Riva exhaust
    Riva intake manifold upgrade
    R&D pro pitch 12/22 impeller

I do not want to do anything to negatively impact the engine or dramatically decrease fuel economy.

Any clue as ho much a mechanic might charge to install the four parts. How difficult is it to change the impeller and is the 12/22 the best option for the 4 above mods.

Also, some people had mentionend air filter mods...would anything like that make a difference.

Lastly, whats the deal with a blow off valve...would thisbe neccessary with the above installed mods.

Thanks so much for the advice to those who have shown an interest.
