    "U" tie down loose

One of the "U" tie downs is loose.

First-- how in the world would it come loose ?
Next-- how in the world would one get to the nuts in the hull ?

I was right next to those this week on my RXT putting in a thru hull, I dident find it that difficult, lay in a foot well with your feet twords the front, put a flashlight down in there so you can see and just lower yourself as far back there as you can, there should just be 2 nuts on it so I'm sure even a wrench with one or a few long extensions would do the trick.

LOL, my nightmare. I'm too frickin old to attempt that. You'd need to call a crane to get me out.

Man, I know what you mean. The first time I changed the clutch cable on my Saab, I had to lay on a board on top of two plastic folder storage boxes and reach in under the dash. After an hour I could hard get up. But I saved a couple hundred in dealer labor charges... Ron

I was sore for two days after leaning over into the hull removing and replacing the waterbox and supercharger ! No way Im going to be able to "fit" and reach way back in there

I"ll see if one of the kids can fit in there with a long extention. The parts list shows the nut is an M8 so a socket might fit it OK. Anyone seen a 3 ft socket extention ?

I dont use the U bolts to tie it down so its not that big a deal. I may get a bit of water in so a dab of silicone may be the fix.

Piney, if one of your kids slips and falls down into the engine compartment, he will be just like all the other sockets, zip ties, wrenches and other miscellaneous stuff that falls down there and goes into the "black hole"

You will never see him again!

    LOL
