Would I be crazy if I tried to rebuild and install my motor by myself???

Just as the question looks, I have NEVER done this. I think the craziest thing ive ever done was install headers on my old 350z. I know how to use tools and i am pretty handy. I would have to wonder though, am i crazy to try and completely rebuild my motor from the crank up and install it, which I have also never done?

Is their a how to on this forum, I have tried to look, but I dont think i am searching with the right key words maybe???

You can purchase a complete rebuilt motor from SBT, and should be able to install that yourself.

you could do it yourself with help from the board, I did the same thing with my 2002 gpr.

check out the projects section and you can see for yourself how many new people have done it as well as watch the pro's in action.

if its ski related then this is the place to do it and get help.

good luck and feel free to post as many questions about your build as you need to, just try to keep them all in one thread.

Every tuner or mechanic had a first time, I had my first blown motor a couple of years ago, it turn out to be very easy and learned a lot from the process.

I recommend do it yourself, safe a lot of money, and enjoy learning.

Buy the manual, you will find there the most important information, torque specs and sequence...

I would not pay 4K for a rebuild and you dont need new carbs, just clean them and install a new kit and gaskets

Don't listen to our local and favorite wise a** forum member. There have been numerous members that have taken on projects out of their comfort zone. Good luck.

Yea I figured a manual is needed, I am definately going to have to do some research, and most likely have to buy alot more tools. Where is the manuals?? like do I need to buy that somewhere, or can someone pass a link for me??? I really am pretty confident I could do it, just in my mind think its smarter so I can repair it myself for now on.

I would say...Do it! I had never done anything like rebuild an engine before. But with the info on this site, I am just about done rebuilding my engine. I just have the carbs left to rebuild.
