Smile New Msx150 owner from AU

Hi all, I just purchased my first ski a little over a week ago and after chasing around for a few months after a yamaha 1200 I found an msx150 at a price too good to refuse for a four stroker with plenty of hp and still good economy.

So I discovered this site, had a bit of a mess around with the ski during the week (checked oil, checked everything was hooked up where it seemed it needed to be) and took it out for its first run on the weekend, and what an absolute blast!

It is going to be ridden primarily in lakes/rivers around here and for my wife and I to do some towing and touring on. It was pretty choppy on the lake this weekend (easter and very busy) but it was reasonably consistant at around 95km/h top speed with the two of us on it. Does that sound about right?

I had ridden a couple of yamaha 2 stroke skis whilst overseas earlier in the year and had to have one, but the polaris turbo is in another league and I wish it wasnt heading towards winter here and being too cold to ride!

So I guess the point of my post was to say g'day and that after reading through these forums and other than the wastegate causing problems and the engine oil being a bit tricky to read accuratley, is there anything else I should check/tweak/adjust before I tuck her away for the winter?

    Thanks
    Hinchi

welcome to the board, its good to see a another fellow aussie taking up the sport and joining our community ( theres a few of us here).

ps: you will save a small fortune buying parts from the classifieds and online store here rather then locally.

Um, this link might be a better place to look for the Polaris Service Manuals, Parts Manuals, and other useful info.

    Welcome to the Hulk!

This recent thread, and others, also have good info on the Weber engined MSX 150 and MSX 110.

The search function is your friend. Only trick is that search words need to be four letters or longer

Take a moment to update your Greenhulk Profile. It helps use keep track of who is where, and rides what. There are other Oz folks around Greenhulk, riding Polaris and other brands - where are you located?

One key parameter to keep track of is peak engine RPM at wide open throttle. It is more telling than the indicated speed on the digital NGI display (which can be a rather inaccurate).

Any change in maximum sustained RPM indicates a change in something related to engine health.

When you see speed numbers posted here, the only accurate ones are those measured by portable GPS (or a radar gun). Virtually all PWC speedometers that measure speed from the water passing beneath are not accurate, and machines running side by side at the same time will often show different speedo numbers.

Also watch what octane fuel you are using. Australian octane is rated differently than US octane. The MSX 150 requires a minimum of 91 octane (US), which translates to about 96 octane in Oz.

Keep the spark plugs fresh, and only use the exact spark plug spec'ed in the Manual.

We can add search items of less than 3 items, if it is something that is searched often.

    Clarify please.

Was three letter word searching added in recent times?
It never used to work for me

    No.
Like I said, we try and add in words as they are needed.
