2001 GTS - Won't start after being run...

My gf's 2001 GTS-717 starts great in the morning when we put it in the water.

We take it out for a ride, no problems, but if we shut it off if we want to switch ski's or hang out, then try to start it within 5 minutes of shutting it off it won't start.

We let it sit for an hour, 45 minutes, etc... it starts right up?

Does anyone have a solution or fix?

Check to see if you have spark when it wont start. If it has no spark, its likely the rectifier, or worse, the module.

    Welcome to GH Curtis!

Couple things, have the carbs ever been removed and cleaned inside?
Try unscrewing the gas cap and then see if it starts after sitting. Sometimes the check valve will stick and vapor lock the fuel system.

They also make thicker carb base gaskets because some models carbs get too hot and get heat soaked when sitting after a ride.

I'm more inclined to think it is a lean fuel mixture though, from dirty carbs.

I am pretty sure I have spark, as this has never been an issue with this sled since I have owned them...

I was hoping to hear dirty carbs, I bought them last year and put them in the water. I will be taking it apart this spring and cleaning up everything, so hopefully that will solve my issue

Still have the grey tempo lines? If so, CHANGE 'EM, and celan out the filters on the carbs.

I'd check for vapor lock. I would also check your fuel mix before getting too worried.

What is the deal with these TEMPO lines, once I pull them out of storage I can check, but some people say pre-2001 other say they used them till 2003... i have done a ton of searches...

also when you say check your fuel mix? What do you mean? I still have the oil injection, no pre-mix

I am thinking of getting (2) 2001 Seadoo GTI's. I have heard a little about the fuel lines. What are some common problems with these skis. I have a 99 gp1200 yamaha now, fully race ready, so dont spare me the technical stuff!! :>) Thanks much.

Well after another summer of the same symptoms, I am lost.

At the start of the season I cleaned/rebuilt the carb, it seems to run better during idle/acceleration, but the re-starting was still a problem.

If the engine is cold it will re-start, not easy but we can get it running.

When the engine is warm, forget about it.

    Does anyone have any input?
