    Navy Snipers 3, Pirates ZERO

    NAVY SNIPERS 3
    PIRATES 0

Three shots in the dark = 3 dead pirates.

White House: "Mr. President, everyone's safe. you can take credit now."

But how long before this happens again...?

There have been more that 130 attacks on ships off the coast of Somalia in the past year and more than 40 ships have been seized. The hijackings are threatening to destabilise one of the world's busiest shipping lanes.

Somalia's fragile transitional government, struggling to contain an Islamist insurgency with ties to al-Qaeda, can barely control any part of the capital, Mogadishu, much less a piracy epidemic rooted along its shores, where the multimillion-dollar business has turned sleepy fishing villages into mini-boomtowns...

Foreign governments have sent a flotilla of naval ships to the busy Gulf of Aden, but pirates have simply moved their operations south and further out to sea, often using captured fishing vessels called mother ships to launch attacks...

John Reinhart, president and chief executive of Maersk Line, the ship's owner, spoke with Phillips by phone. Reinhart quoted Phillips as saying that "the real heroes are the Navy, the SEALs, those who have brought me home."

IMHO we should not pussy foot around with this when it happens again. SEAL team on the deck, take them out ASAP, don't even negotiate.

The more harshly and swiftly we deal with this problem the less and less it will occur.

    Damn Monkeys.

Piracy on the high seas is an ongoing problem...

    And one of impressive scale;
"...estimated worldwide losses of US $13 to $16 billion per year[28][29]..."

    There are thousands more

While the incident below was being played out, at least one other ship was also pirated and successfully taken to shore by other pirates.

At the moment, the pirates have many prisoners, taken from various ships, and help captive on land (Somalia). These prisoners are a bargaining chip held by the pirates.

"...From March 31 2009, a total of 17 vessels were held captive pending negotiations between owners and hijackers. Today there are nine vessels and 153 crew held hostage by pirate gangs, reports the ICC..."

The real news seldom gets in the newspaper.
This article from last year seems to indicate they are just another variety of MUSLIM TERRORISTS, but of course since the new Administration has outlawed the term "war on terror" they must be just.... criminals.

(NOT). Let's face it; the al-Qaida Islamo-fascists have been trying to sack Somalia since 2006:
    http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/spo...-pirate-2.html

Seems like they don't like the word "pirate."

Often, though, the pirates are friendly and helpful, though they detest use of the p-word. "We never kill people. We are Muslims. We are marines, coastguards -- not pirates," one said.
