Question High Idle Issue on FX 160 HO

    Hi

I came back from a ride yesterday and when washing the ski out noticed that it was idling [email protected] 2,000 RPM. had a quick look over, every thing seemed in order (but it was getting dark)... anyone have any ideas?

It still runs fine just this high idle speed.

Checked it out further today and from cold it idles OK but when it warms up it has the high RPM issue again/still?

    Thanks...Keith

This is on the trailer. Also I started it this afternoon to check it out (on the trailer) and it was fine until it got warm then rev's increased to 2-3k.

RPM will always be higher on the hose instead of the water, there is no load

    over reving at idle

Hi Thanks. I've owned the ski for 1 1/2 years and it has always idled around the 1200 rpm mark. even when on the hose warm or cold. also when started from cold the next day the RPM's were normal but increased to 2,500 - 3000 when it got warmer.

Sounds a lot like a air leak, but from where? Check all hoses (pipes) first. I would start under the air box lid. Check throttle bodies to make sure they are not loose.

    Idle issue

    Awesome thanks Fussy1

I think I might have found the issue with your help...one of the hoses (hose # 1) was hanging off the by pass valve assembly I assume that would cause the problem. I have not run it yet to find out but will take it for a run latter today. Thanks again. will keep you posted.

    Thanks all for your input.

    Regards

    Keith

    VX hi idle

My 2007 Yamaha VX 110 runs at 4500 rpms (on the trailer). The throttle cable appears to work properly and i can't find any loose hoses like Keith did. I'm thinking it might be something electrical (i'm definately not sure).
i think it would be a bad idea to put it in the water and have it start up at 4500 rpms.......It worked fine one week ago in the water(and trailer)....
    Can anyone help?
    thanks.

First check the throttle cable etc, make sure its not holding open the throttle body blade. Should be easy to see if it is returning to idle.
