    1995 SLT 750 Problems

It runs great if it's not to rough on the water. But when you hit a large wave and it come over the bow of the ski it dies and will not start back up for 15mins or so.

    Welcome to the Hulk!

Click here for service manuals, and other useful info.

What happens right after you hit the wave?
The engine dies instantly, like you pulled the lanyard, or sputters and dies.

Does it crank but not start, or not even crank?

When the water comes over the front, how much is getting into the engine compartment?

Have a look at the seat seals around the front, especially the seat seals near the air intake. Also look for any other place water might be coming in and directly splashing the engine.

Another possibility is that the bilge is accumulating water, and the drive shaft and riding is splashing the water around.

Yes the motor stop like you pulled the lanyard. It will crank but will not start.
A very small amount of water gets in the hull.

I suggest you investigate the start/stop switch and wiring. You may have an electrical problem/corrosion in there.

The other thing is to check that the plastic battery cover is in place, the electrical box is properly strapped down, and all wire connections are clean and secure, especially the battery cables (both ends of both cables).

Inside the electrical box, there should be zero water, and zero corrosion. All connections should be tight, corrosion free, and protected with dielectric grease (Nyogel).

Make sure the Reset circuit breaker is not damaged.

With the engine idling on the trailer backed down the ramp, or on the hose (two minutes max), try wiggling wires and switches. Nothing should cause a change in engine RPM, other than actually pulling the lanyard or Stop switch.

    Welcome to the Hulk.

Sounds like you have an elec. issue brewing.

First make sure all the wiring is sound. All connections clean and tight. Make sure the wiring harness isn't rubbed through somewhere.

Next, try removing the spark plug boots and cutting the wire back about 1/4". Then rescrew the boots back on and zip tie them.

    Check your spark plug gap.

Try ohm testing your stator to be sure it's good.

Let us know what you find.

The problem was the kill switch. The rubber boot thats on the kill switch was ripped letting water in and killing the motor.
