    oil pump check valves

Im rebuilding by motor from the ground up and keeping oil injection. dont feel like premixing,

are the checkvales on the oil lines really needed ?? does the oil really leak back out of the lines ?? its hard to belive seeing that the oil tank sits above the pump and the carbs

    thanks,
    Brandon

You probably don't want to hear this, but most people are going to suggest you go premix. There's a long history of the cable and/or lines failing, which leads to instant disaster. Why don't you want to go premix? It really isn't a hassle once you do it a few times.

+1 not that hard to mix and if you gotta fill up on the water carry some water bottles filled with oil in your storage bin.

    oil injection

premix when your out on the water is a hassle and then carrying with extra oil. i was round and round about using my oil pump. my motor is sitting on my bench pending this decision, and now you have me talked back into premix LOL. i just rebuilt it from ground upm, new true and welded hot rods crank new rings, and woukld like it to last, well i guess im back to buing a block off kit. or making one

    thanks

Look - 40:1 ratio is 16 ounces per 5 gallons. Get a bottle from Walgreens with a screw on top that had markings for ounces. Fill it to 16 oz, put it between the hull and gas tank on the right side, and be done with it. If you need gas on the water, dump the oil in there and put in 5 gallons to get back to the dock.

Otherwise, premix is not a hassle to use. You must go to the dark side...

I've used everything from gatoraide bottles to baby bottles for premixing. You just buy gas in 5 gallon increments and after awhile you learn the gauge enough to know how much you can squeeze in there..

If your going to stay with injection then I wouldn't run it without the valves and make sure you replace your oil lines since you have the motor out already. There's nothing wrong with injection if your lines are in good shape and your oil line connections are secure.

But with that being said all of my ski's are premix...

oh, and personally I think premix helps keep carbs cleaner internally. Nothing fights corrosion better than oil inside the gas...

I would personally use Premix. 40:1
One less mechanical part to fail.
