Cool 1997 Polaris SL 900 a Good Buy?

    I Just purchased a 1997 Polaris SL 900 with 100.2 hours for 1000.00.
All registrations completed and taken care of by seller.
PWC Needs TLC. But Runs very Well. This is my first PWC I owned. I rented a PWC once and loved it. I thought that I should not spend to much on the first PWC. You Know, Learning Curve. Very open to Subjections. Thank You. Will Post More Pic's Soon!

    Welcome to the Polaris club!

You may find this Introduction to purchasing a PWC to be useful.

Do take the time to check and record your cylinder compression. Then if you suspect a problem, you will know if the compression has changed.

Be very sure the carbs are clean inside, and properly adjusted. Check piston wash several times, until you are comfortable than it is running as it should.

Do you know the service history of this machine?

Make sure the legal title/ownership is transferred to your name, and there are no liens against it. Same for the trailer.

Think about insurance. Not so much for replacing the PWC if it were damaged or stolen, but for liability protection.

Take the time to check and verify that everything is connected, bolted, and tightened as it should be. Do not assume that things are correct, or correctly done.

If the hull interior is dirty, there have been several threads showing different ways to get it cleaned up

My buddy has one he purchased brand new. It has a ton of hours on it and has been a turn key ski since new. He never needed to dump money into it and it never left him stranded. Not very hard to maintain. For $1000.00, with a trailer I assume, is a real good deal. For your first boat, you have something pretty fast and reliable IMO.

What happened to the registration #s? They don't change if its a local boat.
