    synthetic or regular

Hi, I was wondering if I could mix my own synthetic blend. I bought 5 quarts of synthetic and 5 quarts of regular. I want to mix them and make my own synthetic blend. I know you can buy synthetic blends.

    Thank you.

It depends on who's oil it is. Some oils do not mix with other oils.

You should be able to blend those oils with no issues.

You can probably blend those and not have a nasty chemical reaction, but I wouldn't do it. There is a lot more to oil than just whether or not it is synthetic. Some are high ash, low ash, ashless, different additive packages designed to do different things, etc. You go combining them, you may end up with a gooey mess on your hands. IMO, you will benefit nothing from mixing them, and only end up doing possible harm. If you want a cheap semi-syn, use Citgo's Sea and Snow or their "air cooled" oil...they are the same thing in different bottles. BTW, most of the time, the synthetic portion of off the shelf 2 stroke oils refers to its additive package, not the base stock.

I've never met a synthetic oil, that didn't state that it was compatible with non-synthetic oil.

In other words...you can mix them.

Great, thanks for all the info!!

One quick off the topic question; how many fuel filters are there on my ski, 96 sl 700. I found the filter and water separator but I also found something that looks like a filter in the engine compartment. Maybe a oil filter? It is very small about a 2 inchs long and it has metal clamps that cant be reinstalled when removed.

    Thanks

Klotz with BeNOL does not mix with other oils.

Do you have a filter installed in the oil line from the oil tank to the oil pump?

Polaris oil filters look like small inline fuel filters - sounds like the original factory one got cut off and dropped into the hull.
