Found something VERY interesting in the pump tunnel.........

Im in the middle of installing my pump shoe reinforcment and i noticed that the inside of the pump tunnel had some waves in it that i think will cause turbulance or disturbed water flow to the impeller.I used 400 wet sand paper and a sanding block and blocked the tunnel out to reveal the high and low spots. This tunnel mold in this area was bad IMO.I cleaned the surface after sanding with Acetone.I then mixed up some Marine-Tex and applied with a 1 1/2 putty knife.I will let it dry overnight and re-block sand tomarrow.I feel that the high and low spots will cause some cavatation as water passes bye.Just a thought.

I know everyone's concerned about the way ride plates are finished here lately. I think this is a great next step. Thanks for pointing this out Woody! Please post a follow up and show us the finish.

Woody, I noticed the same thing on my ski when I was profiling the ramp on my grate. I can't say I gave it any more thought, but I think you're on to something. Let us know how it works out, ok?

Woody. That sucks. Better luck with the new epoxy. Make sure you prep that area good or that epoxy will get sucked through your pump.

Marine Tex is nasty stuff. When I used it to fill a few divits and scratches in my hull, I managed to get it everywhere - my hair, under my nails, etc. Nothing would take it off.
