    Question Please Help

    I have a 2000 yamaha GP 800. I want it to take off faster and i want overall speed faster. I am looking into buying two new piston kits with all gaskets and was wondering if this will help out. Also, what is the function of reed valves? I know nothing about them. My buddy drives a 1996 Sea Doo XP and he takes me at the start everytime and then his overall speed is a couple mile an hour more then mine. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

    Sell and get a 1300gpr that will solve a lot....

    If you NEED to keep your ski.. Seal the pump. Jetworks kit from island racing.. top end get a intake grate and rideplate.. but again your going to spend some money and it's better you buy a gpr 1300 and start from there.. WARNING speed=addicting=money!

    Piston kits will only help out if your are worn. consider some of the above mentioned improvements. Pump seal, jetworks holeshot kit, intake grate. consider having you head decked to up your compression too.

    Best bang for your buck on that 800 is
    1,Get your head decked or buy a high psi one from green hulk store
    2, seal your pump.
    3 check your impeller clearance (impeller to wear ring)
    4 3 degree key way.
    Clean the filters in your carbs!
    YOU WILL KICK THAT XPs A$$
    I have a key way for you. you do the head, I will send you a keyway... and you can kick some she-doo a$$

    Thanks for the input. I am looking into getting an intake grate at the moment and a new impeller. I don't know what to get for the impeller though. Everything on the ski is stock. Any ideas for an impeller? Sorry for being so new at this, but what do you mean by having the head decked? Also, what should I have for cylinder compression?
