Thread: 4-tec gas?

Hi guys. I was told to use 93 octane gas in my XP, but we keep it on the beach and fill it up with 5 gal. pals we keep on the beach. My aunt has a 06 GTX N/A and I was wondering if that should be getting 93 too? The reason I ask is because I don't want to mix up the pals (we have like 5 of them) and was wondering if we can just use the same gas? Thanks

The GTX NA does not need high octane gas. 87 octane should be fine... Ron

The NA 4-tec engines won't be harmed by using higher octane fuel, and only require 87 octane or higher. You can put whatever you want in it... regular or premium, you won't hurt it.

just a quick ? but should you be putting 93 in a 800, cant they just run on regular... i switch mine back and forth between 89 and 93...?

if your XP is stock, it will run better on 87 or 89. 93 is needed only if it has a high compression head and/or ignition timing advanced. If you bought it from someone that may have modified it and they told you to run 93, better be safe than sorry and use 93 octane.

I think when I tested my compression they were both at 165psi but I have a stock head as far as I know.
